ABOUT PUISSANTE(S)
This project was born and evolved following a radical awakening nearly ten years ago. In 2016, I denounced my best friend and associate, guilty of sexual abuse against the models whose careers he managed. After eight years of waiting and investigation, he was finally sentenced in December 2023 to 16 years in prison. This ordeal transformed my outlook. It revealed to me the extent of the hypersexualization of women's bodies, the systemic abuse to which they are exposed, but also my own story as an abused child.
Since then, my work has focused on testifying to the subtlety and infinite palette of the feminine. Power and beauty when they express themselves in all their dimensions, freed from injunctions and relationships of domination. These women that I photograph, whether naked or clothed, are not merchandise. They are inhabited, whole, alive. They carry within them a force that goes beyond the image: their profound humanity. These women are in full possession of their bodies, they are POWERFUL.
ABOUT THE WORK
Dive into the water to emerge sovereign . The bathtub is a sanctuary, a space where water soothes and allows you to be reborn .
It repairs the body that has passed through, that has given, it cleanses.
This is what feminine power is all about. Not just shining . But falling, doubting, and starting again .
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sylvie Castioni is a French photographer who brings together fashion, art, and cinema to invent a unique visual language. Inspired by the icons of the 1990s, she began her career in fashion photography before shifting her focus to a more intimate and authentic approach. Breaking free from the codes of objectification, she explores the power of the feminine and questions power relations. Her collaborations with brands such as Sephora and Laposte, as well as her personal projects, demonstrate a strong commitment to self-esteem and representations. Through her series and exhibitions, Sylvie Castioni highlights resilience, healing, and emancipation. Today, she revisits her archives and asserts her place in the art market, driven by a conviction: photography can transform perspectives and contribute to profound social change.
