I don't want to settle for crumbs anymore.
My name is Annelise and I am the founder of ART GIRLS GALERIE. I'm a gallery owner, curator, art critic and lecturer specializing in the representation of the female gaze in contemporary and digital art. After 4 years of traveling exhibitions, we are opening a large 300m2 space in Boulogne Billancourt in September 2024.
My Fight
I've dedicated the last 4 years of my life to women artists, and I'm going to dedicate the next 40 years to them.

Admittedly, there is a real problem with the representation of women artists in the art market. Admittedly, women artists make up only 2% of the art market. But this is not and never will be a question of percentages. The real question we must ask ourselves today is what kind of mark we want to leave on future generations. Contemporary artistic creation is far from being an anecdotal subject. It shapes the collective visual unconscious.

I don't show women artists because they are women. I exhibit artists with unique histories and backgrounds, who have the ability to convey these through their mastery of technique and aesthetics. I don't show women to show women. I never do. Because women artists are not a charity. Women artists are professionals who want to be treated as such.

So I set up my gallery to treat them as such. Because to invest money, to provide the means of production, to work day after day to build up their skills, to give big exhibitions... That's the minimum. I started my gallery because not addressing the issue of women's representation in our art history means leaving the little girls of tomorrow without strong models of representation.

I refuse to let our little girls open history books without discovering a single work by a female artist. I refuse to accept that our time is passing on a culture that forgets half of humanity.
Our Team
Every day, we strive to put all of our skills, knowledge and expertise at the service of our artists.
